Why are schools still run on a model that is broken? Why are parents always scrambling for childcare and summer camps? Why is the system based on individual sacrifice? Why is education so uneven and unequal across the nation?

Because part of the GOP end game is to defund education. They don’t want the government to fund education. Thus, education becomes available only to the rich who can afford it and in their schools where everyone looks the same. And in case you can’t see it, the GOP ... 1/2

Good grief......they work 9 months each year with 10 federal holidays, 5 spring break days, 2 weeks off for Christmas, 5 days at Thanksgiving, numerous in-service days, and God knows how many state holidays. They work 6 hours a day with an hour lunch. They are living the dream.

I may only physically go to work 190 days a year, but I work year-round. I have an eight hour work day, not counting the hours I spend at home preparing. I have no lunch period. I do have a planning period (sometimes), which is time I spend working!

quit it, just quit. The biggest issue with teacher pay is administration and non-teacher increases, bureaucracy, and invasive involvement in non-public issues. Eliminate government involvement, public schools and unions and teacher pay will immediately jump.

How many retired? How many moved to different states? How many found they didn't fit as teachers? How many changed professions? Numbers sound scary, but paint an incomplete picture.
-
I retired as soon as I could, mostly because of the lack of support and kids/parents with no discipline and unreasonable “busy work”
