While you’re at it, decrease the ridiculous testing and stop letting testing companies, investors, and TFA direct public school policy. LISTEN TO EDUCATORS.

I truly appreciate this as a future full time teacher but as a substitute teacher it would be nice if my entire underclass of teachers were occasionally noticed. All we need is some training. I realize people will laugh at this but that's entirely my point.

I too have been a substitute teacher for three years, and I'm getting my full credential soon. However, I will not forget to respect my own future subs.

How many teachers work three jobs?! What percentage? Also, the Federal government has absolutely nothing to do with teacher pay.
-
I work 3 jobs... it used to be 4. I also know several young teachers who do the same. It burns us out.

Education is a county by county, township by township, issue. Local taxes control salaries. The DOE can’t give raises nationwide. But your messaging is lovely. Just not realistic. ~ Cathy Areu, M.S. in Education, certified public school teacher in 2 states, tenured FL educator.

That is great, Sen. Harris. Personally, because I feel that teachers are as valuable to this society as good lawyers and doctors, they should be paid accordingly. $200-$1000 per hour based on their effectiveness.

Teachers shape our collective future! Too many states treat us as babysitters.
Clearly we need to value education more. Look where we are now.
