Both my grandads fought in WWII, one Pacific, one went in on DDay. My dad was a Vietnam era frogman. One thing they all had in common is, even in their old age, they’d gladly take up arms and fight again to prevent their kids from having to. Thank you, Tom. You’re the best of us.
As we recognize D-Day, we must remember the bravery of soldiers like Tom from California, whose actions eventually brought an end to WWII. 'National Socialism' is a terrible translation for nationalsozialistische. A more accurate translation for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei would be 'Party for a National Society of German Workers'. The Nazis never claimed to be socialists, they loathed socialists.
