in my school, we are taught to examine our options and narrow it down. if you can run, then run. if you can’t, hide with something to throw, and if your hiding spot is compromised, then you fight. we’re also taught to separate out so the threat can’t get as many of us at once.

This is the thing-- if you're in a lockdown kids you have to stay off your phone and not cry. If you make noise he's going to know you're there. Don't make any noise. Stay off the phone put them on silent. Do not talk. Do not cry. Until we fix this and make guns go away

I walked in on my coworkers discussing an active shooter situation. One said she would run. Another said she thought she could get 7 kids out, and she’d have to grab the ones nearest to her. I’m a teacher in a preschool.
