I think harsh examples need to be made here. Just because it's prison doesn't mean we let go of ethical and moral health care standards. Empathy doesn't need to be a myth.

more to the point, if you imprison someone, you are 100% responsible for their well-being. So, this went beyond Criminal Negligence and implies willful depraved indifference. the guards and warden need to do a long time in prison. hopefully the SAME prison...

Yes I agree involved parties must be held accountable, but further, fundamental changes are needed in a system that allows such a situation to arise in the first place!

Like how is someone who is pregnant and with “significant” mental health issues, put in prison for failing to report for “pretrial”? How are they placed in an isolated cell when labor is imminent? Are we really in such a dehumanizing society?
