And a big part of that problem is addicts and alcoholics are being shoved together with the mentally ill in homeless communities when they should be housed and treated separately for their illnesses. That’s the word from the street.
-
I’ve heard enough stories and spoken to enough professionals to know that’s a consensus Nationwide, worldwide.

So true! As a RN who has many years of experience in the field of mental health, it has been so sad to see psychiatric units close in the hospitals here in Ohio where I live.
-
Bedside RN here. We lose hospital beds for days at a time waiting for inpatient psych beds to open up. This population is so underserved.

Thank you Ma'am. We need to change the narrative, but we also need to continue mental health parity with insurance companies who often put caps on MH spending vs other health spending. And provide MH services to young kids, the poor & the elderly.

An extremely overlooked issue.

Thank you, I lost my Mom to suicide in October. She suffered from anxiety, depression, and alcoholism. Maybe she'd be here to celebrate her birthday (May13th) and Mother's Day if she had more professional help. I miss her very much and will continue to advocate for mental health

Yes! Exactly right, in fact physical health and mental health are often intertwined!
