Here in the UK, where we live under the brutal bootheel of government-enforced healthcare, my g/f who has diabetes gets all her insulin, needles, testing strips, medical care, even counselling, free of charge. But sure, America, socialised medicine is terrifying.

Senator, this is life or death for millions. An incredible threat and burden on Americans. Do what you can. You can save lives.

Let us make public flogging of any politician who proposes new social programs without saying how to pay for them a right in this country. People must have a fundamental right not to be misled and deceived by wily, forked-tongue, politicians.

I’m not saying we don’t need it Senator, but with this crippling deficit, how do you propose to pay for it ?
-
You can actually pay for it by raising the tax rate by x% across the board. Because workers will no longer be paying premiums for employer based insurance or deductibles, most will see more $ in their paychecks even with paying higher taxes. This is how most countries afford UHC.

So have you and hopefully a highly Skilled staff of experts have gone over how to accomplish this? Dental care is ridiculously expensive and dental problems lead to deepening health problems. No one talks about this. Why not?

Even if you don't think it's a right, it should be considered part of infrastructure. Separating healthcare from employment and eliminating the uncertainty of healthcare bills will help spur entrepreneurship and improve individuals' long term financial planning.
