If anyone wants to buy a home they can set goals based on their circumstances and eventually do it. Quit trying to legislate prosperity to people that are not willing to put in effort. People of all races win every day.

Effort really? You sound incredibly entitled. I had my own house for 10 years then lost it because my effort wasn't enough to keep up with the constant rising of the mortgage. There's a serious problem in these economics & its not effort.

So the American people subsidize other folks inability to stick to a budget and plan? Why should the American people be punished for the poor money management of others?

I love all these self proclaimed Christians hating on this. I don't remember Jesus saying " don't help those who are down, they are on their own"

Brilliant idea ... Homeowners get mortgage interest and real estate tax deductions. Why shouldn't families who are renting not receive a credit?
#MakeItFair! -
Because the homeowners are taking an investment risk, has to pay property taxes, and is liable for damages done to or on the property. A desirability for a lack of liability is the entire reason renting is a thing, and why taking on that risk nets rewards such as tax incentives.

Interesting, because in your home state of California, people spend a huge % of income on housing that’s not affordable due to ... policies and laws championed by your party!! Nice racket you have there — cause a problem then offer to solve it.

I'm a black Democrat and even I think this is a bad idea. We don't need hand-holding. If you are going to do something, do it for everyone.

What would stop people from just moving into a more expensive place If you make a million a year, you can spend 300,001 in housing and get a tax break
