My co worker is off work caring for her dying husband without pay. He is dying because health ins won’t pay for 3rd stem cell transplant. He has gone into remission last 2 times for 8 years each time. Not sure of details, but they wanted it, his cells were already frozen.$500k.
No one should have to choose between caring for their family or putting food on the table. We must fight for paid family and sick leave.

In Canada, this is the law (thread): Either the mother or father can take 35 weeks of parental leave after the baby is born or adopted. The parents can share the leave however they choose.

If eligible for the program, the benefits equal 55 percent of the parent's average weekly insurable wage, up to a maximum of $562 per week.

How about abolish Minimum Wage and a family of 4 could live off one income like Before the Government got involved. Oh, and I thought we weren't supposed to have kids because the environment or something...

How 'bout shrink govt back to, say, 1964, when ONE bread-winner could still: buy a house, own a car, have savings, save for college, have 2+ kids, home-maker could stay home, go on vacation.... Govt wasn't stealing every penny to give to another and playing Uncle Sugar
