You know what I've yet to hear any candidate say? That it's okay to go to trade school. Or it's okay to go to a community college and get your general ed done for roughly $40 per unit and transfer somewhere as a junior instead of spending $$$$$$$$ at a university. Let's try that.

Sentencing them to half a lifetime of crippling debt while colleges are richer than ever. The people you claim you want to help always end worse off. You never actually help anyone.

My husband graduated with two Masters degrees and no debt. How? It was before student loans made college unaffordable. The student loan program has been a disaster for students and a gold mine for colleges.

There is a solution to this dilemma, don’t sign for a student loan. Just go to college and get a part time job just like the rest of us did. But understand that if you do fold and take out that loan, you will, will have to pay it back. Why gin up dissent… oh, I forgot, Democrat.

When people who left home for college before 2001 lecture younger people on the crisis of college debt, it infuriates me. The system is not the same for these people@as it was for us. My work study job actually paid my tuition, room, board and books. Now it MIGHT pay for 1/10th.

I think it is radical to have a bunch of people pick a college and sign loan paperwork with a repayment schedule, (if they are getting accepted to college they should know how intrest works), and then whining about having to repay what they agreed to repay to everyone

There is so much more to the story.

18 years and just paid off mine..would've been longer had I not made extra payments. Took out more than I needed because I was young and didn't understand I'd pay as much interest as what I'd borrowed. Glad to see someone pushing education, this and increasing teachers pay

Educating kids and their parents on the price of college, the mechanics of the loans, payment amounts etc...is something we need to do.
