If it's a "dream job" you don't do it for MONEY!!!!! You do it cause u love it! Teachers are paid by US most other careers with same education are PRIVATE and can pay whatever the hell they want. Don't like how much a teacher gets paid? DONT BE A TEACHER.
The gap between what teachers and people with similar educations earn creates disastrous consequences. Teachers are leaving their dream jobs because they can’t make ends meet. That’s not right. They deserve better. My plan will help us retain and empower teachers.

Teachers I know don’t expect to make much money and are ok with that because they believe that what they are doing is critical. They do not, however, expect to have to work 2 or 3 jobs to get by.

More $ would be great... what I’d also appreciate is a little respect from people. When I say I’m a teacher, I always get: Awwww that’s nice, what grade? Me: K-3 mostly bc I’m a reading specialist. Then, I get: Oh, so you read with kids?! Me:

Dyslexia (dysgraphia, dyscalculia) is huge- effecting 20-25% of people. Biggest thing I deal with in my special ed advocacy work, followed by autism. Reading resource teachers work their butts off and deserve huge kudos and more $$$

My friends from college are teachers and here in NY you need a masters, basically the same amount of education as an attorney, but people want to complain about how much teachers are paid. Always made me shake my head. And if teaching was so easy everyone would do it
