And 3 months vacation time, what an injustice. And try firing an incompetent teacher - transferred to the green room for life with full pay and benefits.

Nice try.. we don’t get three months vacation. We work until the first week of June, we go back the first week of August. Do the Math, if you can. I also work the entire summer preparing for the following year. Try walking a day in our shoes . You will fall flat on your face.

How about also asking my city to reduce taxes for those of us who send our kids to private schools? Can you add that in? Some of us work a couple jobs so we can afford a private education for our kids and it would be helpful to take away some of the public school tax burden.

that’s great but that we need to get the curriculum for the students fixed too. One in five kids have dyslexia, people need to teach phonics past first grade.

I think this is wrong Congress eligible for pension after total of 5 years of service. I know the starting amount of a Member’s retirement annuity may not exceed 80% of his or her final salary. But really 80% of how much?????

You are right. Congress has given themselves huge expense accounts and ridiculous pensions. They should put in at least 20, like everyone else. They also should fly commercial. This includes the speaker.

This is something I can get behind. Education is the biggest problem we have as a nation. Paying those who teach is a great start to fixing a whole host of issues. Relatively small investment for the potentially enormous return.

As a teacher, I made $92,000 a year when I retired 11 years ago. The district paid most of my excellent health care. My pension is $61,000 per year and I receive $100 per month toward my Medicare Supplement insurance. I would have a bigger pension but I retired 1 year early...
