I can vouch for this, at least personally.
My grandpa is on dialysis, nearing the end of his life. My mom and I take turns caring for him, because my grandma started falling apart once my grandpa did.
This policy would make such a difference in all of our lives

Baby Boomers, too. I work full time and my husband is disabled and home caring for my bedridden 99 yr old Mom until I get home. Haven’t had a break for 5 years.

I would never ask my millennial kids to be my caregiver. I’m the past; they are the future. It seems wrong to hold them back....

It’s not about asking them. I’m technically a Millennial (though I don’t feel like one!), and I help my mom care for my sick grandparents. My mom worked her ass off to raise me & my sister on her own, and she still works so damn hard. It’s the least I can do to help my family.

Became both breadwinner & caregiver when my husband was terminally ill. For 5 1/2 years got maybe 4 hours sleep per night. No help available & at the end, massive medical debt & wrecked my own health. Support for caregivers & their families is much needed though too late for me.

I suffer from a
#chronicillness and my 21 year old son has been my caregiver for the last 2 years. He's afraid to work because I might need him. But I'm apparently not sick ENOUGH for him to get paid thru my state!!Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
