AT&T: Along with the phone service you're buying to be a functional adult, for $30 a month you can get an iPhone to utilize the largest collection of resources in human history. Do you want that? Me: No, some prick will tell me I don't deserve it. Give me the flip phone.

Financial literacy must be taught in all grade levels

Absolutely. I know people that prioritize family vacations and a nice leased car over insurance. We need budgeting taught in schools. I do think we need corrections to medical, but, not universal healthcare.

In a system where one goes to an in-network emergency room only to find out weeks later with the bill via mail that the emergency doctor in that facility was not in-network, $400 emergency expenses is wishful thinking...
-
Exactly this. In the ER you have no say whatsoever who comes into the room. It is insane.

Sorry to break it to you, but a trip to the ER is going to cost way more than $400-$500 out of pocket... even with good insurance.
-
Not sure what insurance you have but my ER copay is only $100. Guess I'm lucky and have better than good insurance.
