My favorite book growing up was "The underground railroad" the story of Harriet Tubman. I remember thinking that I hoped I would be that brave.

Hard to imagine the courage that took. I know I'm not that brave. Thank goodness for strong women.

I read her biography, she was AMAZING! They called her General and she NEVER ended the fight, helping blacks to find work and acclimate into the "free" world. One in a million but thank God there was a Harriet Tubman!

I remember watching a made for TV movie in the mid 70s. I don’t think I was any older than 10. From that moment on to this day I’ve been absolutely fascinated by her.

Hers was the first biography I read in elementary school and I have never forgotten it. She was one of my earliest heroes. She deserves to be honored and remembered.
