Just insisting that all providers, and pharmacy chains above a certain size be required to post and then honor current prices on their websites would take care of 80% of abusive pricing through competition. We right now have a “pretend” market.
Let’s START first by actually educating students in their first 12 years of tax-payer subsidized education - there is absolutely ZERO reason young Americans should spend 12 years in school, only to graduate without a single job related skill.
I teach @ a typical public high school in SoFla & many of our students leave w/nursing, engineering, marketing, & computer sci industry certifications. Many others go to a 4yr univ. AND I teach in a horrible district. So please don't attack education. But DO fight 4 more funding!
Or maybe we need to be honest that not every job needs a 4 year degree? I saw a sales position that required a 4 year degree, I have been in sales most of my life and see no need for that.
I just saw a job last week that wanted a masters degree: it’s a job you can do with one certificate

now that student loan debt is unable to be discharged through bankruptcy, schools have zero incentive to do so...and no disincentive not to.
When I attended college at SDSU in 1980, I paid around $250 per semester and California junior colleges were basically free ( about $50 for parking and student body feels). New books maxed at around $100 or so. What happened? Have professors' salaries increased as well?
Track federal aid (grants) and subsidized loans...every time they’re raised, the university’s manage to increase the cost of attendance. Maybe we should stop handing out grants and loans like they’re candy.
