My sons' best ever science teacher (ms) died suddenly yesterday. They *loved* her, and she was the reason both went into biology at university. But they always kept in touch, let her know their progress, and thanked her. Great teachers pass; their legacies live forever.

Teachers are valuable and should be appreciated, but let's not get carried away. My husband and I raise our daughter. Her teachers do not.
