Many of us have been in situations where we’re the only one like us in the room. It could be a classroom, a meeting room, a board room. My advice when that happens: chin up, shoulders back & speak for all the people who are so proud you are in that room and are cheering you on.

Oh yes I remember being to only woman many times. The first woman to do so thing, be appointed,etc. Will be great when there are no firsts anymore.

This is what people lost in their
#WhitePrivilege don’t get. They’ve never experienced being to only white person in a room or on a committee. They don’t even consider what it must be like. -
I've been there. I worked for an all black hospital during late 70's in North St. Louis. I and another person were the only whites working at the hospital. At first, it was *interesting* to be the only white in meetings, but after a couple of months I didn't even notice anymore.
