You still smoking and listening to Snoop to come to this conclusion. Simple, don’t break the law = not being put in jail.

You're not listening. Two people can break the same law. The one with money won't end up in jail, the one without money will be. If a large bank account is the only difference, that isn't justice.

This is an interesting stance to take, as a past prosecutor. Did you advocate for reduced bail terms when you were in office?

Prosecutors lack resources to bring most cases to trial, but they're judged by clearance rates, so they're forced to settle as many as possible - and cash bail makes poor people settle. It's ugly, and we should fix it, but the prosecutors don't have the power to fix it alone.

Bail is to guarantee appearance at trial. What is your alternative proposal for guarantying appearance?
-
New Jersey got rid of cash bail over two years ago. They have a points-based system to judge who is likely to show up reliably, and people who are doubtful they keep track of with ankle monitors.

Bail is (or, should be) based on the offense and the 'flight risk' of the offender. Your 'solution', which would let people out WITHOUT bail for offenses like drug dealing, is misguided to say the least. Don't want to sit in jail? Don't do the crime.
-
The point is these people have not been convicted of anything yet. Some of them in fact didn't do the crime and yet they are sitting in jail because they can't afford bail.
