maybe it’s actually more of a sign we have a problem buying things we can’t afford!

I bought a $6k dollar car then found out I was very ill. No cure for me but meds to keep me alive just one is $5200 a month. I guess that’s my fault too.

Well if the
#GreenNewDeal that you support wants to get rid of cars eventually, I suppose car payments won’t even be an issue anymore! Even though cars are the best solution to getting low-income people jobs... But I guess they’ll be unwilling to work anyways.

In a libertarian world, we wouldn't have taxpayer funded roads and people would have never become dependent on cars. People would live a lot closer to work

This isn’t a broken economy issue. This is a money managing dumbass issue. If you can’t afford the car you are paying for, you should’ve chosen a different car. No one forced you to buy the one that you couldn’t afford. Numbers don’t lie. Manage your money.
-
Exactly.... I really wanted a 2500 Sierra Denali, but the tag was $72,000. Yeah the payment was manageable after trade in, but the truck I got instead is just as great and less a month!

Some people over extend themselves and can't pay their bills, doesn't mean they don't get paid enough, means they suck at managing the money they get.

Well said Michael.

I’m not saying our economy is the best right now but I’m sure the statistic you’re putting out there is not totally factual because people are buying cars they couldn’t afford in the first place. If a 25K or 30K car stretches your budget don’t get it.

Predatory lending is also a major component of this problem. Debt cycles are nearly impossible to break out of and there is always a more complicated cause than "simple math".
