My brother works for the Coast Guard, is 23, has a 6-month old child, and did not qualify for all the loans conservatives think they can get. He's being forced to work, there is absolutely ZERO reason he should not get paid.
The president has tried to negotiate multiple times and you and the rest of the Democrats don't seem to care enough about these workers to get them paid, otherwise, you would be offering some compromise. If you're so concerned, give them your pay for the month..you're not working
If dems cave in on this issue then republicans will hold government workers hostage for a political agenda everytime they want something. It's not just about the wall---There's a greater political context that for some reason brainless conservatives are ignoring.
With @SpeakerPelosi, please get a law passed to prevent banks, other lenders, and businesses from foreclosing on loans, or dinging the credit ratings of any people who have had to withhold payments due to the shutdown.
Including contractors and satellite businesses who won’t have back pay coming.
Extreme partisan politics such as this is the downfall of this nation. Compromise and negotiation is a fundamental part of democracy.
It’s little consolation of a three week CR. It may release a bit of one kind of pressure but add another. What if people have found temp jobs? If they let them go can they get them back? Will any relief on bills immediately come due before money is in the bank?
I’ve been wondering the same!
