And why don’t we ever talk about the 7.9% interest the federal government charges on those loans? It adds to the burden!

My husband‘s law school loans accrued more interest than we paid last year. He’s an attorney, I’m a teacher. We should be able to make a dent in that debt :(

Who's fault is that. Many who go to college graduate with WORTHLESS degrees. No one tells them they have to go to the most expensive schools. You by a car and don't pay for it they take the car. You take a loan u pay it back. This is not a taxpayer problem. Show responsibility.

I don't know about you, but I was told to go to the best college by all of my teachers and guidance counselors. "It doesn't matte how much it costs because you'll be making 6 figures after you graduate!" FYI, it took me 10 years after a masters degree to make 6 figures.

Get rid of student loans and tuitions will drop by 50% over night. These thieving universities only charge their ridiculous tuition rates because of the availability of loan money.
-
That's correct. I know because I'm in a similar situation w/my kids. Tuitions are high because they know you can get an education loan for any amount regardless of your debt or credit score. However, if you get rid of loans, tuitions will need to drop by more like 90-95%.

I think you need three more zeros. Isn’t it trillions?
-
Yes, it’s in the trillions, not billions

...or adults could take actual responsibilities for the decision to borrow the $$$ and pay it back as they agreed to. Just sayin.
-
But how do we pay it back if wages are so low?
