The fact that so many “middle class” Americans are living paycheck to paycheck is proof that our economy doesn’t work for the majority.

Maybe the issue is with people who feel the need to keep up with the Jones that’s the issue, not the economy

Confront the truth. The middle class has a spending problem and if you figure out a way to give them more money, they will just spend it. Paycheck to paycheck is often the result of poor choices.

I drive a janky car. I pay my mortgage (which is comparable to 1 month’s rent in my city). I rarely eat out. I buy 1-2 new pairs of flats a year (I’m a teacher- they wear out). I work full time, with 18 year’s experience. I can’t afford to go to the doctor when I’m sick.

The truth is if corporations and big business aren't reined in none of that will matter. GREED is the issue. Even if wages grow, they just charge more. Merchandise, food, school, rent or mortgage go up. You hardly see a dime.

Greed is also ambition to achieve and succeed. If you remove the incentive to achieve, we all fail and we all will suffer. Socialism is not the answer- as history has shown.

Senators are getting paid during the government shutdown. Many low-wage contractors aren’t. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vox.com/platform/amp/policy-and-politics/2018/12/27/18157684/government-shutdown-contractors-janitors …
