The end of the year is always a time for reflection, and this year I wanted to take a look back at some of the highs and lows of 2018. Thread below:

In June, shortly after calling on Secretary Nielsen to resign over the family separations, I toured an immigration detention facility and visited with mothers separated from their children. What we did to these families and the abuses that continue to this day is immoral.pic.twitter.com/nks4Oizzd7

I introduced a bill to reduce maternal mortality in August. It’s alarming that Black mothers are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white mothers. This public health crisis must be addressed.https://www.glamour.com/story/senator-kamala-harris-bill-maternal-mortality-crisis …

On Election Day in November, we saw voters turn out in droves to elect more than 100 women to have a seat in the House in the new Congress.pic.twitter.com/h91ljv1xkP

There are still many fights ahead in 2019. Take, for example, the Violence Against Women Act. It’s been expired 10 days ever since the government shut down. Reauthorizing it must be a priority.pic.twitter.com/eyyGQdPpLd

From 1882 to 1986, Congress failed nearly 200 times to pass anti-lynching legislation and earlier this month, the Senate passed historic legislation to make lynching a federal hate crime.

#TrumpShutdown continues into 2019, one thing is clear: a border wall would be an absolute waste of taxpayer money.pic.twitter.com/CQfy3sZSqB

My advice: Whoever you are, if you’re someplace feeling different than others, realize you are different and that’s the way God made you. Rely on Him for strength in all things. That emptiness we all feel is there for a reason, to be filled with our connection to the Divine.

My advice to Black (ALL) Women .. don't let Kamala Harris steal your power! You are strong, you are powerful, you are equal and you are worthy. If you are in a Boardroom there are no "different" people in there. If you are in a classroom, there are no "different" people there

That is so Racist.. Only the Democrats divide us by color, religion, and class. It is not about that at all. It has come down to good vs evil. Division is a tool of the enemy. A house divided cannot stand. Dems Divide

Identity politics is getting old. It is pure racism and causing so much hate .. Why do you push it.. How can people get along when you keep putting them in boxes to be kept separate . we had less racism before this identity politics. Do you do this just to stay relevant.
