Please make sure this has coverage for maternal mental health as well. Hormones can exacerbate or cause many psychiatric conditions and a history of sexual trauma creates all kinds of psychological complications during pregnancy as well - whether or not the pregnancy is wanted.

Yes! Many women are ashamed to seek help for postpartum stress and depression caused by hormones. Help should be part of routine care.

If gestating-to-term was evaluated as a job, and one looked at maternal mortality... Gestating in the U.S would be in top 10 U.S. deadliest jobs... Gestating while African American the top 5. Gestating to term is ~300x more deadly to woman than abortion. 1/2

Severe maternal morbidity affects ~1/69 U.S. pregnancies. Gestating to term is not just, as some frame it, a simple inconvenience.

I don't know what the Maternal CARE Act includes, but as a well-educated, fully insured woman who's had multiple pregnancies I can tell you that prenatal care in this country is godawful. Like, couldn't get anyone who took my insurance to see my for a miscarriage last year.
