My dad would have been so happy to see this day come. As an FBI agent, he investigated the Mack Charles Parker lynching in 1959, and was among the agents who found Mr. Parker's body in the Pearl River. It shaped everything he did afterward.
Lynching is a dark and despicable aspect of our nation’s history. We must acknowledge that fact, lest we repeat it. Thank you to my colleagues for agreeing to unanimously pass our Justice for Victims of Lynching Act, and @CoryBooker and @SenatorTimScott for your partnership.

To expand on this notion, does anyone else think it’s odd & potentially inappropriate that 10 cities/towns in the US are named, Lynchburg? I can understand naming a settlement after a person, but John Lynch didn’t establish a ferry crossing in all of those places..
