This does not happen to women diagnosed with cervical cancer in Australia. Australia’s Medicare (for all) pays for the surgery...regardless of income, skin colour, religion, sexual orientation. And yes, all taxpayers contribute, but it is there for you when you need it.

It's one of the easiest to diagnose before it becomes cancer, and one of the most treatable cancers. For this to be happening is unconscionable. For younger people in Alabama (and anywhere else), there is a vaccine that can prevent cervical and throat cancer. Get vaccinated.

Why don’t you say get the HPV vaccine. Get PAP smears. Don’t make this a thing we can’t speak openly about.
-
The mother in the story HAD a pap smear, and couldn't get surgery to treat it 'til after the initial pre-cancerous lesion had become metastatic cancer. Prevention is 100% the right thing - HPV vaccine; but won't solve the lack of access to medical care for people already affected

This cannot continue. Senator Harris,Thanks for everything you do. How can we help the women in this community outside of getting healthcare for all? Are there programs that we can contribute to help in the interim? My heart hurts for them. Early detection saves lives.

the only real chge i can see is free schooling. dr's can't afford to go to these places as long as they have a fortune to payback for their education. free education means better quality care for everyone. in the meantime, donations are great.

Trillions for defense spending (ie private contracts to tech and weapons suppliers) but no money for our veterans. Make people aware of where our defense money goes please! Especially those that hide behind patriotism as the wild card for budget spending

And many Americans criticise the NHS....

-
The criticism of NHS, Canada’s Medicare and many other healthcare systems around the world by the political right in the USA are just lies to protect the healthcare industry in the USA ... it’s money over people ...

If I had not had Medicare and supplemental medical insurance and part D prescription insurance, I’d be dead today. I would not have been able to afford endometrial cancer surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and chemo again. Plus all the prescriptions I needed.
