That is deeply, deeply disturbing! We have compulsory voting here in Australia (you’re fined if you don’t vote!) and I wonder if that approach, though imperfect, would still go a long way to addressing some of the problems the USA is now suffering.

We have this particular rule in Massachusetts, too- if we miss two (?) elections, we receive a form in the mail and must respond or be placed on inactive status. After another interval of time- years- with no response or sign of activity, we are dropped from the rolls.

This is only a problem for Dems because it’s South of the Mason Dixon. GA’s law is more generous than Ohio’s which was upheld by SCOTUS last term.
