No weaponizing involved. States, Calif. in particular, want illegals to participate in the census. The more people that are counted, the more $ California gets from Washington. If illegals are asked if they're illegal, Calif. is afraid they won't participate. Less $ 4 California.

A couple of corrections sport, California as a whole doesn't want illegal aliens counted, liberal Californians do. Don't paint us all in the same stroke. CA pays more to the Fedl income than it takes. It's a donor state. Those who pay the most aren't obligated to spend the least.

Conservatives tried this in Canada. They got rid of a long form census so they did not have to help people they did not know about. It was restored by the current Liberal gov, thank god.
