Lynching is murder and the last time I checked murder is a federal crime. It is murder by strangulation at the very least.
The Senate Judiciary unanimously voted to move the anti-lynching bill I introduced with Senators Booker and Scott forward. Lynching was a despicable part of our nation’s history, yet lynching is still not a federal hate crime. I grew up in a mostly white, small town in Canada.I learned about the unspeakable hatred of people of colour and the practice of lynching in elementary school. This is the WORST hate crime.
