Thanks for sharing. Saying Columbus discovered America when it's estimated there were already close to 8 million Americans living here was classic colonial ethnocentrism but continuing to celebrate it today is the height of ignorance and racism.

Why we still teach the pilgrim bs is beyond me. I guess it is better than telling kids that when Europeans came they slaughtered any and all they viewed could be even a possible threat. Besides the evidence that MANY cultures made it here before Columbus.

Indigenous people deserve the whole month. It's the least we can do after they 1. Discovered both North and South America 2. Have had to listen to us argue about which European discovered North and South America first for hundreds of years.
