And trying to get your children out of a dangerous situation means you should have them taken from you? As a parent, I would do anything to protect my kids. If that meant crossing a border, I'd cross a border. I would hope my children wouldn't be incarcerated for it.

The whole Country went into an uproar over immigrant children having to use those silver blankets, while there are American veterans, children and elderly on our streets with NO blankets, shelter, safety or food. -
If you are so concerned, may I ask when the last time was you have a blanket to an elderly or veteran or homeless child?

Should someone's children be taken from them if they go over the speed limit? Last time I checked, that's breaking the law.

If the driver is arrested at the scene then "Yes" children are separated from the driver until a responsible family member can take them. Endangering the lives of children is never acceptable.
