This academy seems more like a brainwashing facility. Talking and touching are basic human needs along with sleeping and eating. Deprivation is part of the brainwashing technique.

This story isn't just about conversion therapy, though. These "schools" for "troubled youth" need to be closely regulated to prevent abuse. Remember - this "school" was in CA and existed after the CA ban on conversion therapy. They exploited loopholes in the law.
