How about people living within their means and keep the government out of our lives.

I live within my means I do not have any credit cards save when I want to purchase something but hardly eeke out a living. After rent I have a few hundred dollars to pay my car, insurance, medical bills (insurance did not cover), utilities, food, toiletries, etc. Don't assume.

So will the landlords be subsidized? Sounds like section 8 to me. But in this economy most of the working class people need to be subsidized, as 40% of Americas can’t afford a 400.00 emergency.

That's what it sounds like to me too, only its called Housing Choice Voucher Program now.

the dutch gvt pays rent subsidy underneath a certain income (far below 100k a year) they will however not pay for price gouging nor for substandard housing, so owners are encouraged to keep up to code and keep rents reasonable because otherwise poor folk won't rent from them

I read several analyses of your proposal. I support the concept and absolutely believe housing for low-income families needs propping up. Your bill, according to the financial experts, is short-sighted and will cost more $$ than you predict. Let's get that fixed first.

Senator, we need to address rent, but we don't need to artificially lower prices and increase demand - that will only drive prices higher!!! We need more housing to increase supply - push for building incentives, zoning NIMBY rollbacks and affordable housing requirements!
