Min wage jobs are stepping stones - NOT DESTINATION careers. Rent similar for a 1 bedroom apt in Panama City Beach FL and min wage is just over $8. Work two jobs, get a roommate, do what's necessary while you BETTER YOURSELF. Why don't people understand this?

Life sometimes goes sideways fast. Even the wealthy can become poor at a time of life we planned to enjoy retirement. With ageism and outdated CVs, minimum wage is all we can get, if we are fortunate to even get employment. Please don’t judge - that doesn’t help anyone.

In 1980, minimum wage in
#California was $3.10/hr -> $533/month. A single person didn't live alone and afford apartment, car, etc in 1980 with that income. Minimum wage was never meant to be a living salary for one person. You want to change the game now. -
Bullshit. I lived alone on one full time minimum wage job in CA, in 1981. Totally supported myself. Car payment, credit card payments, rent, etc. My kids can't do that now.

You think that's bad, you should see how much California taxes cost many Californians.pic.twitter.com/65jnejqXyL

Taxes to pay for programs to keep wellness up are good. Taxes to support large companies and states that can't support themselves are bad. The problem is CA loses too much money supporting the federal government and other states.

1300, where? That's cheap.
-
Cheap? I guess for California. Here in Iowa, I have an apt with garage and including all my utilities, I pay less than $800/month. Why does California have to be so expensive?

Not simple. Why do we need to make profit off of people's need for having a decent place to live or healthy food or proper medical care?
