How is an adult expected to support themselves with a 40 hr work week at less than $10.00 an hour? Why are corporations celebrated for record high profits while their F/T loyal hardworking employees need to use food banks to survive?

I put in an extra 10-20 hours a week just to make ends meet. Single mom, 3 kids, put myself through college to get a better paying job only for the goalpost to be moved even further.

I did the same and now have student loans that are impossible to pay off. EVERYTHING goes UP EXCEPT my PAYCHECK

Yes. Rent and mortgages are out of control and descimating our paychecks. Another issue that may seem small is the cost of food and necessary goods. In the past 10 yrs my grocery bill has doubled with 2 less mouths to feed. Packages are half the size and double the price.

Yes and anything even remotely "affordable" is far away from any kind of metro area, so you get to spend more on travel as well! We don't have a way for regular working people to live well anymore.

I tell people this all the time - my parents raised 8 children on a single salary income. My father worked hard, had a mortgage, two cars, no college education, but it was possible to earn a living wage. So much has changed. Me - 3 degrees, single parent, modest home, struggling
