The congressional elite really don’t understand that people can barely survive on such a low minimum wage. Prices are going up all over and people can’t afford to buy these products. Our economy would get out of whack if min. wage people stop buying our products.
The federal minimum wage→ April 1, 1990: $3.80 April 1, 1991: $4.25 October 1, 1996: $4.75 September 1, 1997: $5.15 July 24, 2007: $5.85 July 24, 2008: $6.55 July 24, 2009: $7.25 It’s now 2018. Time to raise the wage.

Rents are going up in small to midsize cities. My rent had gone up $125 per month each year. In 2013, 22% of my monthly salary went towards rent. Now 42% of my monthly pay goes towards rent. It’s almost impossible for public school teachers to afford rent in Texas cities.

Everyday is inflation for the middle class, single parents with 2 jobs, women over looked for promotions, women paid less, wages low, living high. These problems aren't new.

Right. When I started waiting tables in 1976, minimum wage for servers in PA was $1.62. When I retired in 2013 it was $2.83. 37 years, total hourly increase of $1.21. Insanity.
