Yep, they should have happened at home, in front of their family. But their parents decided to drag their child on a very dangerous and illegal trip instead.

Seeking asylum at a port of entry is not illegal. The administration hid the policy change from citizens - so how would non-citizens know?

Don't break the law! It's pretty simple!

That’s also the same girl they showed on the Time magazine cover when her mother was searched by Border Patrol. The dad in Honduras said that mom & child were never separated. Nice try

Maybe his father should not have tried to enter the country illegally with his baby in tow. Four times he came in illegally. Why isn’t the headline:” Four time illegal immigrant misses son’s milestones due to his own disregard for the laws of the US!”?

Misleading pic & tweet. The child is standing in place, on *her own-one foot out of center(which requires great balance)while waiting patiently for *her shoe to be tied. First steps occur 9 mos - 1.5 years. A new walker is not capable of the gross motor displayed in photo.

@KamalaHarris#Firststeps Indeed it is tragic when the parents had the option of being there in their home country to witness those#preciousmoments, but instead chose a different path based on the#falsehope that you preach. Shame on you! -
The shame, is upon the people that don't have a heart to open in concerned of a parent seeking a better place of home for their kids.
