There should straight away be a military exemption for anyone of undocumented status that has served any amount of time in the military. If they are good enough to take for service, then they are good enough and deserve to stay here.

It does sound simple, but alas. I'm on the Board of a non-profit that helps people who would make great American citizens become naturalized citizens. The laws are amazingly complex.
