The Lovings were very brave. My parents (black father, Austrian mother), married in 1955 in Austria and moved to DC, where they lived for almost 20 years and raised 7 children. As a young child, I remember death threats we received. I'm writing a book about their journey.

In 1953, my aunt left Missouri to a state where she and her love could get married. They never stepped foot in Missouri again.
