Board members admitted themselves that this was in response to critical statements that the executive director of the Palawan NGO Network made years ago of the problems of illegal logging and fishing in the province. [2/8]

We believe this is a reprisal meant to discourage the public pressure on the mismanagement of the Philippines’ last ecological frontier's protected landscapes and natural resources. [3/8]

Atty. Chan is known for his uncompromising stance and hard-hitting actions on environmental issues of the province. Together with his team of para-enforcers, they have been recognized many times for their direct actions to uphold environmental laws. [4/8]

Atty. Chan was recently awarded in the 6th Gawad Bayani ng Kalikasan where he was recognized along with the likes of the late environment secretary Gina Lopez. [5/8]

The provincial board should instead just work on much needed policy reforms for Palawan, including an overhaul of its co-management agreement... [6/8]
