24 hours into the government shutdown and I've already drank half of the water I filled the bathtub with. Today is when the food trucks will probably stop reaching the cities. I've set a trap for the neighbor's cat - which should provide some much needed protein. God help us all.

Double standards are Paul Ryan being elected at 28 and immediately being given the benefit of his ill-considered policies considered genius; and me winning a primary at 28 to immediately be treated with suspicion & scrutinized, down to my clothing, of being a fraud.

Instead of answering for his long history of sexism and misogyny, he had police physically threaten, intimidate, and assault people for daring to ask him about it.

Holding billionaires, like Bloomberg, accountable for their role in accelerating climate change and demanding a is not "far-left." It is exactly what is called for. Shoutout to these and individuals for speaking truth to power.

I was stopped by police while canvassing for my election in Pleasant Hill. The treatment I received was considerably different. The respect police give people in our community is important—throughout the metro a black person canvassing deserves the same treatment I received.

Last year I was bartending, and I bought my first couch two weeks ago - shortly after I got health insurance 😬 So don’t worry, growth doesn’t happen in a straight line! We’re all closer than we believe.

Fred Hubbell ran the most uninspiring campaign that didn’t include POC or any actually stance on issues that matter the most to us. He bought the primary and then expected to win because he’s not the “Republican”. Sounds familiar.

If you are angered about people being devalued, marginalized, and exploited by our corrupt political and economic system, then I urge you to donate and invest in orgs that are fighting for change.

Congratulations to on her extraordinary upset victory tonight! She took on the entire local Democratic establishment in her district and won a very strong victory. She demonstrated once again what progressive grassroots politics can do.

Ever since high school when I saw Chicago public schools close 50 elementary schools in black and brown neighborhoods, I knew we had to fight like hell to make education a human right. Today drops its toolkit for at !!!
