    24 hours into the government shutdown and I've already drank half of the water I filled the bathtub with. Today is when the food trucks will probably stop reaching the cities. I've set a trap for the neighbor's cat - which should provide some much needed protein. God help us all.

    Double standards are Paul Ryan being elected at 28 and immediately being given the benefit of his ill-considered policies considered genius; and me winning a primary at 28 to immediately be treated with suspicion & scrutinized, down to my clothing, of being a fraud.

    I was stopped by police while canvassing for my election in Pleasant Hill. The treatment I received was considerably different. The respect police give people in our community is important—throughout the metro a black person canvassing deserves the same treatment I received.
