Is anyone else dealing with a mockingbird desperately singing at the top of his lungs, non stop with no breaks from 2am - 5am? It’s been an ENTIRE MONTH and this incel bird hasn’t found a mate yet and is making our block SUFFER for it.pic.twitter.com/ynWdYK6Q6R

For real, it’ll be funny in a few months. This bird has pushed me to tears. I didn’t realize how much suffering such a small bird could cause but I haven’t had a good nights sleep in 3 weeks (Jon a month because the bird started while I was in Germany).

We had a bird like that and it was building a nest outside of our bedroom window. Didn’t have the heart to off it.

It’s awful and there’s not much that can be done. They’re protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 plus they’re super territorial and once they decide where they’re making a nest, THAT IS WHERE THE NEST IS STAYING.

But props to mockingbirds. It’s the males that make nests and they’ll even care for the babies while the females go mate elsewhere. This dude is just tryna be a daddy.

Birds singing. Beautiful! Birds' singing is disappearing worldwide, i am glad for any.

Birds singing is awesome! A mockingbird can sing up to 30 songs and even imitates car alarms. Now imagine that high pitched on loop from 2am to 5am without the bird so much as taking a breath. Multiply that by a month. A SOLID MONTH. That is not beautiful.

It is for somebody! But yes, it would annoying to me too. Have you tried ask him to tone it down?

I don’t mind birdsongs. But think of it as a child learning to play an instrument. Of course we want more children playing instruments — music is being taken out of schools and programs are being defunded. But a child practicing from 2am-5am? It’s all about context.

There’s nothing that can be done thanks to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. It’s as if the government knew they were annoying and then enacted a bill to protect them.
