Until there might be some functional studies it looks less interesting to me. Yes, the L and S segment phylogeny have shifted slightly, which could be an inner-LASV reassortment, but it's all still well within LASV strains, suggesting nothing unusual yet
. The former is pretty unlikely, the latter plausible given the bipartite genome.
I’m not suggesting there’s anything functional going on here, only that being a reassortant - given the geographical range of the virus - is interesting.

The suspicions is/was always there but proving it is/was tricky, especially with inner-species reassortments, but you guys get better with sequences and alignments to show it! All I say is NW A/B Rec
