In plain language, what I am trying to say here is this - please don't try to take this to protect yourself against COVID-19 (a prophylactic). It will *increase* your chance of infection and disease, not decrease it.

Looking at the numbers from the RECOVERY trial yesterday, there's a hint of exactly this effect in the data - the rate ratio is 1.22 [0.86 - 1.75] for mild disease* (so increased risk of death) vs 0.65 [0.48 - 0.88] for vented patients (so decreased risk of death).

*Note - this difference isn't statistically significant (I think - it's unclear to me exactly what test was used for their p=0.14).
