And when I say we need the CDC, make no mistake - I mean we need the *real* CDC. Not the one that’s muzzled, sidelined, and has weak leadership - but the responsibility for that lies outside CDC. So don’t fall for this trap of trying to further undermine CDC - we need them.
While I agree that we desperately need the CDC (and there's plenty of blame to go around), their testing failure and FDA obstructionism are major reasons for our situation. Despite political obstacles, they should have developed adequate testing, like many companies and countries
They behaved like typical self-serving bureaucracies across multiple political administrations. I don't know how you change that mindset, short of destroying them completely and rebuilding from scratch.
