Yeah: mines just a partially informed guess while noting the immunity challenge. The big thing also is even if “we” get a vaccine, who is “we”
Ebola vax (from scratch) took a decade and for flu we have vaccine platforms that we know already work (still takes six months to update though). Here we have essentially nothing and given complexity of CoV immunity, I think will realistically take longer.

Is it INEVITABLE (given enough $ + enough scientists tackling this from different directions + enough time) that there will eventually be a vaccine? Is failure a possibility?

Failure is a possibility, but I'm convinced we'll have a vaccine. Might not be a vaccine leading to lifelong immunity, but a vaccine nonetheless.
