@APHL (Assoc. of Public Health Labs) sent me a stern reply to my query (see below) saying that case data has to be obtained each state. Doesn't make any sense at all... Something is truly wrong about this - obviously the CDC would want to *have* all those numbers minute by minute and then make them *available* to help combat the epidemic. This is scary.

I have heard (so rumor?) that the individual states are in charge of their data and cdc won’t be compiling. Bc the state labs won’t have enough to do with the testing and all....
