Yes, what Kristian said. Even for presumptively impactful mutations, linking a given mutation to real-world phenotypic changes is extraordinarily difficult. The odds of a mutation arising that meaningfully impacts global transmission? Low, I expect.

Just back from group meeting with Prof. Peter Satir and learned all cilia in eucaryote might be eloved from virus entry. If able to link phenotype, the nonimpactful variants are meaniful in a way to inform what are the impactful variants. Might also need to combine bench data.
