Even with the flu A, to have a vaccine for a newly emerged pandemic subtype would be difficult, and likely enough doses even for first-line HCWs would not be available until second wave started.
Typically when I hear “[company] starts developing vaccine for [pathogen X]” I always shake my head and think “that’s gonna take at least 5-10 years - so not currently relevant”. Seems like their first clinical trial had real positive results. But do you mean timeline is shorter for mRNA drug because preclinical is shorter? ie just using the sequences of mRNAs from the virus?
